The July New Buck Moon is named for the antler growth in male deer fawns and yearlings reaching their full potential. This energy brings spiritual themes of strength and ambition into this season of abundance.
Moon rituals are a magical way to connect with the natural cycles of life and nature. New moons remind us to check in with the parts of ourselves that are expanding and the areas of our lives that are experiencing new beginnings. In yogic philosophy, one big obstacle to letting go of suffering is what lives in our unconsciousness. As the new moon begins in darkness, we can use breath, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra to explore the parts of us that are in the shadows to bring us into our own light.
Feel free to bring a meaningful item to place on the Moon altar for tonight’s practice. It could be a crystal, a picture, a piece of jewelry, really whatever! Maybe something that inspires aspects of the Buck Moon or something that honors the fullness and wholeness of you and this human experience. No previous yoga experience required.
