Moon rituals are a magical way to connect with the natural cycles of life and nature. New moons remind us to check in with the parts of ourselves that are expanding and the areas of our lives that are experiencing new beginnings. In yogic philosophy, one big obstacle to letting go of suffering is what lives in our unconsciousness. As the new moon begins in darkness, we can use Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra to explore the parts of us that are in the shadows to bring us into our own light.
The Harvest New Moon is a true welcoming of the autumn season! It is named for the time of the year when we begin to harvest the apples, squash, pumpkin, and so many more nourishing seasonal foods. It’s also the time when we get to harvest and claim our experiences of summer. We can reflect on the power provided from the heat of summer and use the medicine from the new moon to begin to anchor us into the cooler seasons with more ease. Let’s lean into the new moon with a ritual of rest and setting intentions as we transition out of summer into harvest season.
