New Moon Ritual, Restoratives and Yoga Nidra: Strawberry Moon

  • Roots & River United States (map)

Moon rituals are a magical way to connect with the natural cycles of life and nature. New moons remind us to check in with the parts of ourselves that are expanding and the areas of our lives that are experiencing new beginnings. In yogic philosophy, one big obstacle to letting go of suffering is what lives in our unconsciousness. As the new moon begins in darkness, we can use Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra to explore the parts of us that are in the shadows to bring us into our own light.

The New Strawberry Moon signifies that sweet summer is approaching. The name of the moon celebrates the reddening and ripening of the berries and is also called the Buck Moon to signify the new antlers that emerge on a deer buck's forehead around this time. The expansive nature of the Strawberry moon invites us to go inward and reflect on our own inner strength and confidence to grow the seeds that we planted earlier in the spring. Join Carrie in coming together as a community in a ritual of rest as we slow down, get into the body, and set some intentions for the next phase.
