Noticing the Busyness and Welcoming the Present Moment

Happy Full Moon! Abundance is still dancing around my heart for my intention. One of the things that I sometimes struggle to connect with is the abundance of time. Because our modern concept of time is so very linear, rigid, and hurried.

My daily breathwork practice is one way I can feel time slowing down. When I can connect to the spaciousness of the ground underneath my seat, the abundant air around me to breathe, I can be with this moment in time… I can sense into the layers of me that make up this moment. When I take a pause, I can be with my head, my heart, and my hips all at the same time and welcome whatever is present. When I welcome what is here, I can check with myself to see what I need - movement, stillness, connection, action, inaction, food, water, hugs, more people, less people. When I slow down and breathe, the possibilities become abundant and I remember that I have just enough time for whatever needs to unfold for me. And if I get really slow and still, I remember I already have everything I need.

A Practice For You:: A Self-Care Check in to Slow Down

Want to slow down and breathe with me? Let go of answering the texts, calls, and emails for just 20 minutes and see what happens. Check in with your own needs, let yourself be held by the ground and by your breath. Lie down or take a seat and let’s breathe together.

Self-Care & Svādhyāya (Self-Study)

Having trouble setting side time for yourself? Sometimes that just the era of life one might where time is actually very limited, and sometimes we are just caught in our old patterns and the cultural conditioning and the glorification of being busy. Octavia Raheem says, “What conscious or unconscious investments are you making that keep your energetic bank account in overdraft mode?”

Are you finding yourself starting and stopping practices and unable to show up consistently If you’re looking for someone to help you create more spaciousness in your life, maybe that’s me. I can’t actually create more hours in your day, but I can help you feel more spacious in the time that you do have. Part of the 1:1 work I do in Calm & Connected is use somatic experiencing, breathwork, and rest to aid your nervous system in accessing more capacity for quiet, stillness, and presence so you don’t feel the need to always be busy.
