Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra for Deep Listening: An Experience in Observing your Breath, Body and Mind with Carrie Dennison and Danica Warden

Sink into a nourishing self-care practice with Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra. The focus of the practice is bringing support to the body in order to access breath so that the mind can find a state of ease. This practice allows us to find safety and security within ourselves rather than fully relying on external factors. Carrie will guide you through a few restorative shapes and set you up for a 30 minute super-supported savasana with a Yoga Nidra guided meditation led by Danica. This is an event for everybody to experience, no prior knowledge of yoga necessary to enjoy the benefits.

During this passive practice, you may find yourself in a meditative state where your body is completely relaxed but your mind is still aware. The postures done in this class are simple and held for long periods of time with the support of yoga blankets, bolsters and blocks. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation which deeply relaxes the body. It starts with a prolonged body scan to release tension which is being held in the body. The practice continues with a guided visualization for healing of the heart, head and body. Often affirmations are used to reinforce the healing.

Props will be available for use at the studio or you can bring your own. You will need 1 regular sized yoga bolsters (smaller ones will not work for this practice), 5 blankets or large towels, and 3 yoga blocks. Bring an eye pillow or a wash cloth to cover your eyes for deeper relaxation. Reach out to selfcarewithcarrie@gmail.com with any questions about props.
