Exploring the Possibilities

Happy Full Moon! My intention for this moon cycle is abundance. I’ve been noticing myself experiencing a lot through the lens of scarcity and exploring that through the lines of my ancestors, my life experiences, my thoughts, and how scarcity shows up in my body. I am noticing how my body grips and holds physically when I am holding stories of not enoughness. I am noticing my urges to control and hurry when my thoughts of “I don’t have enough love, I am not giving enough love, I don’t have enough money or I won’t get enough money.”

Abundance gives me another place to land. When I sense into abundance, I feel supported by the earth, I feel big, powerful, and expansive. Physically, my body can soften and widen, I am willing to let the weight down into the earth and relax my muscles. My thoughts are, “There are so many different possibilities, I am supported, the universe provides me everything I need right when I need it.” Feeling into the opposite of not enoughness gives me quite a different experience of the tension created with experiences of scarcity.

A Practice For You:: Exploring the Possibilities

In yoga, exploring the opposites is a practice of pratipakṣa bhāvana. A practice of meeting the samskaras, the imprints of our mind, with another consideration so that the body and psyche can experience both. It’s not because one way is right or wrong or good or bad. It’s about getting curious about both to build capacity to hold both and to be aware of all the possibilities in between. This practice was inspired by one of my many teachers, Tara Lemerise.
